Class Description

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Overall Description of classes: Our dance program is mostly based on progressive 12-week cycles. Our program consists of classes that focus on all aspects of the dance on each student’s respective level, e.g., partner work, foot work, styling, spinning, etc. This method has proven to be the most effective method of learning how to dance “correctly” in a shorter period of time, with a clearer sense of direction and determination in perfecting the wonderful art of Latin music and dance.

All students are allowed 4 weeks to join our cycle classes after their scheduled start date, so long as they come to our weekend non-cycle all-levels classes to cover what they’ve missed. Thereafter, registration is closed for the remainder of the cycle to avoid over-crowdedness and to maintain focus on teaching each class’ material without interruption.

However, we at Santo Rico have a “never turn anyone away” policy. If you or anyone you know wishes to come take our classes after registration closes, feel free to come in and take our weekend all-levels non-cycle classes that cater to everyone. These classes are specifically designed to, 1. help students with scheduling conflicts, 2. help students who join the cycle classes within the allotted 4-week grace period, to catch up with material missed in the cycle classes, 3. To allow cycle-class students to practice, since most of the material from the cycle classes is reviewed in these specific classes, and 4. to better prepare you if and when you join any of the ensuing cycles. Please note that these classes cater to all students ranging in level from Raw Beginner all the way to Advanced.

Santo Rico firmly stands behind its effective teaching methods and guarantees every student's progress under the conditions that he/she; 1. practices what they're taught at least twice a week with our DVDs; 2. attends their respective class(es) consistently; and 3. Completes the program in its entirety by attending all corresponding classes within our program. Please note that each student’s progress is assessed at the end of each cycle before being promoted to the next level. This is mostly determined by the student’s ability to execute all class material, knowledge of timing synchronized with music, rhythm and melody. All students must be evaluated by their respective instructors and cleared before moving onto the next level.

So join us and get ready to have fun!
